What I do

Hedge trimming

Crisp lines, cut at the right time of year for the plant and the wildlife.

Formal hedges cut straight and square, informal ones kept in shape without losing what makes them nice. Beech, privet, escallonia, griselinia and the Jersey favourites — plus the overgrown ones that need bringing back over a couple of years.

Timing matters more than most people realise. Cut a hedge at the wrong point in the year and you lose next season's flowers, or you disturb a nest.

What that usually covers

  • Formal and informal hedges
  • Reduction and reshaping of overgrown hedges
  • Cut at the right time for the species
  • Nesting checked before spring and summer cuts
  • All arisings cleared away
